CFD Services for Research and Industry

Specialist simulation, research collaboration and practical training for organisations working with complex fluid-dynamics challenges.

Service 01

Engineering Consulting

42 CFD Lab provides specialist CFD consulting for engineering projects where aerodynamics or fluid flow directly influence performance, reliability and design decisions.

Engagements range from clearly scoped, one-off studies to long-term strategic simulation partnerships. Each project is structured around agreed objectives, assumptions, deliverables and review points, giving your team a transparent technical basis for decision-making.

We extend your engineering capability with the simulation expertise needed to understand complex flow physics, compare design options and translate numerical results into practical, defensible recommendations.

Core Capabilities

  • Project-based CFD consulting for clearly defined engineering questions
  • Long-term simulation partnerships for organisations requiring continuous CFD capability
  • Transparent assumptions, technical review points and decision-ready reporting

Service 02

Research Collaboration

42 CFD Lab collaborates with universities and research institutions to provide advanced CFD capability in support of ambitious scientific questions.

Our PhD-level specialists work alongside research teams to develop defensible modelling strategies, test new methods and interpret complex flow behaviour. The collaboration is built around rigorous technical exchange, transparent assumptions and research-grade documentation.

By removing computational and methodological barriers, we help researchers use numerical simulation with confidence while extending the scope, quality and impact of their work.

Core Capabilities

  • Embedded collaboration that extends the capability of your research team
  • Research-grade modelling, documentation and reproducible workflows

Service 03

Technical Training

42 CFD Lab delivers practical training that helps engineering and research teams build reliable, independent CFD capability.

Courses range from first-simulation setup to advanced topics such as turbulence modelling and analysis. Each program is adapted to participant experience, technical objectives, software environment and application area.

Standard training uses widely adopted open-source tools including OpenFOAM and ParaView, while training for commercial CFD platforms can also be arranged. The emphasis remains on transferable methods, sound judgement and technically rigorous practice.

Core Capabilities

  • Hands-on learning led by experienced CFD specialists
  • Programs aligned with your team’s objectives, experience and software
  • Transferable workflows supported by practical expert guidance

A Rigorous CFD Workflow

Every project follows a clear, transparent process: from defining the engineering question to delivering technically substantiated solutions.

01 Define

Establish the engineering question, operating envelope, reference data, assumptions and success criteria before modelling begins.

02 Model

Select the physical models, domain, mesh strategy, boundary conditions and solver controls appropriate to the governing flow.

03 Verify

Examine numerical sensitivity, convergence, conservation and agreement with analytical, experimental or published references.

04 Deliver

Translate the flow physics into clear findings, uncertainty-aware recommendations and practical next actions.
